We thank you for your generosity. Any additional gifts sent to the Lewiston-Auburn Response Fund will be allocated to the Androscoggin County Fund. 

About the Broad Recovery Efforts & Organizations Fund

MaineCF established the Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund to address current and emerging needs associated with the Oct. 25 mass shooting in Lewiston. Every dollar donated to the fund was allocated to people impacted by this tragedy and to organizations guiding Lewiston-Auburn through the healing process.

The Broad Recovery Effort & Organizations Fund was set up to support non-profit organizations located in the Lewiston-Auburn region that provided and are continuing to provide relevant services and support to people who were present at the shootings and others in the community who suffered psychological trauma as a result of the shootings.  The organizations that received support are:

Application Information & Instructions

The deadline for applications was March 4, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. The Steering Committee reviewed applications per the final protocol document and made recommendations for disbursement.

Guidelines

To have been eligible for a grant from this fund, a nonprofit organization must be based in the Lewiston-Auburn region and must have provided or are continuing to provide relevant services or support to people who were present at the time of the shootings at Just-In-Time Recreation and Schemengee’s Bar and Grill in Lewiston and/or support to people in the Lewiston-Auburn region who suffered psychological trauma as a result of the shootings.

Examples of relevant services or support may include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Mental health services such as therapy, counseling, and other trauma response treatments
  • Emergency food and supplies
  • Transportation, ASL interpretation, cultural brokering, and other forms of assistance in navigating support services
  • Trauma-informed health and social-emotional wellness education and people-focused support programming i.e., yoga, meditation, art, peer support, etc.
  • Victims-focused legal and social services.
