MaineCF has more than 14 competitive grant programs that serve individuals and Maine nonprofits of all shapes and sizes. The Community Building Grant Program, the foundation's largest grant program, awarded $2.4 million in 2024 to support local projects and nonprofit organizations in all 16 counties.

MaineCF established its first scholarship fund in 1984. Now, through the generosity of individuals, community organizations and businesses that believe in the importance of education, the foundation awards more than $3 million each year from more than 800 scholarship funds.

The foundation has strong Maine ties and a statewide team of professionals focused on understanding local communities that can match your interests and values to regional needs. There are a number of ways you can give.

MaineCF has a broad platform that is welcoming to many donors of all sizes who care about myriad issues in the state. With a desire to deepen our impact, the foundation conducted a statewide needs assessment that revealed several areas that present challenges here in Maine. More than 1,500 residents, partners and stakeholders shared that among other areas, climate, housing and economic opportunity are areas in which MaineCF can make the biggest difference.

Through generous donor support, MaineCF is able to support all 16 Maine counties. The County and Regional Program provides on-the-ground local leadership for community foundation activities. More than 125 volunteers across the state help give voice to the aspirations and challenges unique to each region.
