Shawn Yardley

Shawn is the recently retired CEO of Community Concepts and Community Finance Corp where he served for seven years. He oversaw a wide range of programming at Community Concepts: from early childhood education, child abuse prevention, lead testing, affordable housing, transportation, small business development and more.

Shawn spent 17 years in public child welfare at the Maine Department of Human Services as a caseworker, supervisor, and regional administrator. He was director of adoption for the Bangor office of MAPS for two years, and from 2001 to 2004 was the director of the River Coalition, an organization dedicated to primary prevention for youth and families focused on drug/alcohol use prevention, bullying, and conflict resolution.

Shawn also directed the City of Bangor’s Health and Community Services Department from 2004-2013. For 23 years, he served as adjunct faculty at UMaine School of Social Work, teaching courses on child welfare, emphasizing a multi-disciplinary approach, and exploring the ethical issues inherent in this work. Shawn received his Bachelor of Arts in sociology/Sscial Welfare from the University of Maine at Orono, and Master of Business Administration from Husson College. He has served on both MaineCF’s Penobscot and Androscoggin County committees.
