Lewis (Gene) E. Weaver Scholarship

Gene Weaver was a long-time businessman, owning and operating Weaver’s Bakery on Main Street in Belfast for more than 40 years. Two of his children and two of his grandchildren attended community colleges. He felt strongly about the vocational college system and supporting students who want to attend Maine community colleges. This fund provides support to graduating seniors at Belfast Area High School who are pursuing post-secondary education at a community college in Maine. If there are no eligible recipients in any given year, the scholarship may be awarded to students attending a four-year college or university in Maine.
