James Warner Atwood Memorial Scholarship

The James Warner Atwood Memorial Scholarship was established in 2008 to support graduating seniors at Oceanside High School East who are pursuing a degree in English at a four-year college or university. Eligible applicants are residents (in order of preference) of South Thomaston, Rockland, and Thomaston and St. George.

Edward L. Baxter Scholarship Fund

This scholarship provides financial assistance to graduating seniors at Oceanside High School East to attend a post-secondary institution.

M. Alton French Scholarship

This renewable scholarship assists deserving young people who are residents of Lincolnville, Camden, Hope, Appleton, Rockport, Northport, and Islesboro (in that order of priority) in obtaining a college or university education or other post-secondary course of study that is determined to be the equivalent of a college or university education. Awards will be made on the basis of financial need, record of scholarship, and promise of leadership.

Friendship Memorial Scholarship

The Friendship Memorial Scholarship Fund supports graduating high school seniors who are residents of Friendship, Maine, who are pursuing post-secondary education.

Joseph & Dorothy Headley Scholarship

The Joseph and Dorothy Headley Scholarship provides financial assistance for students who have been residents of Vinalhaven for at least three years who are pursuing post-secondary education at a college, university, community college, or vocational school. The following criteria will be used in the selection: good character, good citizenship, financial need, and ambition. Any resident of Vinalhaven who is 35 or younger is eligible to apply.

Knute and Jane Holmsen Scholarship

The Knute and Jane Holmsen Scholarship was established by their children to continue the legacy of giving their parents instilled in them. The fund supports graduating seniors at Oceanside High School East who are pursuing post-secondary studies in teaching/education.

PIIE-Partners in Island Education College Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2008 to make one substantial financial award each year to a graduating senior from Vinalhaven School. Awards are based on academic performance, school and community involvement, a strong current family or personal connection to Vinalhaven, and/or the intention to benefit the community in the future.

PIIE-Partners in Island Education Ogden/Chaffey Sholarship

The PIIE-Partners in Island Eductaion Ogden /Chaffey Scholarship was established in 2009 to support a Vinalhaven School graduate furthering their academic or vocational education.

James and Marilyn Rockefeller Scholarship

The James and Marilyn Rockefeller Scholarship supports residents of Knox, Waldo, or Washington Counties over the age of 18 who, by circumstance or design, are on a “road less traveled” and are seeking traditional or nontraditional educational experiences that will change their life and the lives of people around them. The selection committee is looking for applicants who have encountered circumstances that required uncommon tenacity, focus, hope and humor, and/or who are choosing to pursue a meaningful life change that requires additional education. Applicants will demonstrate a determination to succeed, be serious about learning, and have a plan (academic and financial) to achieve their goal.

SSZ Trekkers Scholarship

The SSZ Trekkers Scholarship was established in 2010 by friends and family to honor a St. George resident on a special day. It supports scholarships for students who would like to participate in Trekkers’ programs. There is no application for this scholarship. Recipients will be chosen annually from the pool of eligible students.

Howard A. Tribou Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the estate of Howard Tribou to support Rockport and Camden residents who are graduates of Camden Hills Regional High School who wish to further their studies at the post-secondary level.

Thomas E. Watkinson Scholarship

The Watkinson Scholarship was established in 1999 to provide renewable, post-secondary education scholarship support to graduates of Oceanside High School East who have been residents of the Town of Owls Head from the 8th grade through graduation from Oceanside High School East, and who will be attending any type of post-secondary school.

Marion Weidman Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the estate of Marion Weidman to support high school graduates who are residents of Rockport.

Worthington Scholarship

The Worthington Scholarship was established to benefit graduating seniors of Oceanside High School East. Eligible students will have an income level that qualify them for a federal Pell Grant. Preference is given to students who intend to pursue studies in math or science. Awards will be $1,000 per semester, beginning with the second semester of the first year. Awards are renewable at $1,000 per semester, up to a maximum of $2,000 per year, as long as the student maintains a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater.
