The Aspire Scholarship supports students who have resided a substantial part of their formative years (K-12) in Presque Isle or Washburn and adult learners who have built a life in either town and are returning to school. Eligible applicants are alternative learners who will have successfully completed an alternative education program (for example, Presque Isle Alternative High School or The Carleton Project) or who would have benefited from such a program had one been available to them. Academic excellence is not a prerequisite, but demonstrated personal growth, capacity and will to succeed, and pursuit of a post-secondary education are. Please complete each section of this application completely and thoughtfully.

BCA Scholarship
The BCA Scholarship Fund was established by graduates of the former Bridgewater Classical Academy. The scholarship will support a graduating high school senior who is a direct descendant (child, grandchild, great-grandchild, etc.) of a Bridgewater Classical Academy alumnus, or who has been a resident of Bridgewater for at least two years.

Class of '54 Scholarship
The Fort Fairfield Class of 1954 established this renewable scholarship in honor of its 50th reunion. Eligible applicants are graduating seniors of Fort Fairfield Middle High School who are pursuing post-secondary education, preferably at a four-year college or university. Selection will be made on the basis of financial need and attainment of a GPA of 85 (equivalent to a B average) throughout the applicant's high school career.

Leland R. Dahlgren Scholarship
This fund was established in 1999 by the family and friends of Leland R. Dahlgren. It provides scholarship assistance to graduates of Washburn District High School (Aroostook County, Maine) and Yarmouth High School (Cumberland County, Maine) with a strong preference for students who plan to pursue a course of study in the building trades at a two- or four-year college or university. Relevant fields include earthwork, HVAC, electrical, architecture, mechanical or structural engineering, carpentry, masonry, and plumbing.

Phyllis Dow Scholarship
The Phyllis Dow Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to graduates of a high school within a 15-mile radius of Mapleton, Maine. Priority will be given to members of the Methodist Church in Mapleton who are attending an accredited four-year college or university.

Aimee Kathryn Fitzpatrick Community Service Scholarship
Established in June 2008, the purpose of the Aimee Kathryn Fitzpatrick Community Service Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to a graduating senior at Houlton High School who demonstrates a history of sustained and meaningful community service, academic achievement, and financial need.

J. Thomas and Margaret G. Fitzpatrick Scholarship
The J. Thomas and Margaret G. Fitzpatrick Scholarship Fund was established by the family to honor their parents’ commitment to the community of Houlton. Both were exemplary role models who generously shared their time and talents with generations of Houlton residents. This scholarship provides assistance to a graduating senior at Houlton High School pursuing post-secondary education in healthcare, with a preference for nursing, at a four-year college or university in Maine.

Ronald L. Fournier Scholarship
The Ronald L. Fournier Scholarship Fund was established in 1995 to provide scholarship assistance to an Ashland Community High School graduate who wishes to continue his or her education in the business, commercial, or technical fields at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.

Gauvin Family Scholarship
Ray and Sandy Gauvin, long-time residents of Presque Isle, established the Gauvin Family Scholarship in 2001 to help committed, hard-working students with average grades to obtain post-secondary education that will enable them to become successful, responsible, and productive members of their communities. Eligible applicants are students of SAD 1 high school(s).

Richard and Bette Getchell Mann Scholarship Fund
The Richard and Bette Getchell Mann Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to residents of Limestone who are graduating seniors at Limestone Community School to pursue post-secondary education at a college or community college.

Ronald P. Guerrette Future Farmers of America (FFA) Scholarship
The Ronald P. Guerrette FFA Scholarship Fund was created in the spring of 1998 by friends and family to honor the life and work of Ronald P. Guerrette of Caribou. The fund will provide three post-secondary scholarships to students from Caribou High School, Aroostook County, and Maine. Applicants must be FFA members and high school seniors, or in their freshman, sophomore, or junior year in college. Preference is given to applicants pursuing post-secondary studies in farming or agriculture.

Chet Jordan Leadership Award
This scholarship was established in 1995 in memory of Joseph “Chet” Jordan, who grew up in Portland and spent his leisure time in Patten and Aroostook County, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. The family and friends of Chet Jordan established this scholarship to celebrate the rich legacy of his leadership in business and civic affairs in his beloved state of Maine. Chet found opportunity in adversity. He was a visionary thinker who respected diverse opinions. He was actively involved with his family, friends, employees, and community, and he delighted in their successes.
The Chet Jordan Leadership Award is presented to students who are achieving their goals despite hardship, adversity, or disability. Recipients will demonstrate leadership, independent thinking, initiative and hard work in their communities and schools. Academic excellence is not a prerequisite, but demonstrated compassion, dependability, and resilience are. Recipients may apply for renewal consideration throughout their post-secondary education up to a total maximum award of $10,000.
Eligible applicants are graduating seniors at the following high schools: Augusta, Bangor, Brewer, Cape Elizabeth, Cheverus, Cony, Cumberland, Deering, Falmouth, Gorham, Greely, John Bapst, Katahdin, Portland, Scarborough, South Portland, Yarmouth, and all high schools in Aroostook County.

Edith A. Kimball Memorial Scholarship
The Edith A. Kimball Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1996 to provide scholarship support to graduates of Central Aroostook High School who are pursuing post-secondary education. Preference is given to applicants who have lived for at least the previous two years in the towns of Bridgewater, Blaine, or Mars Hill, and are hard-working students with average grades.

James F. McPartland Scholarship
The James F. McPartland Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 through gifts from the family of Mr. McPartland, a member of the Houlton High School Class of 1943, in celebration of his 80th birthday. This fund celebrates Mr. McPartland’s generosity and appreciation for the value of a college education. Eligible applicants are graduating seniors at Houlton High School pursuing post-secondary studies at a two- or four-year college.

The Belva and Harris Morris Scholarship Fund--Limestone was established to provide scholarship assistance to graduating seniors at the Limestone Community School who are pursuing post-secondary education at a two- or four-year college or university.

Jerome Peters Family Fund
The Jerome Peters Family Fund provides a scholarship in the memory of Michael K. Peters to a Maine resident who is a second-, third- or fourth- year student at Bentley University. Preference is given to residents of Aroostook County.

Joleen Fitzpatrick Raymond Scholarship
This fund was established in 1994 by friends and family of Joleen Fitzpatrick Raymond. For many years Joleen was a teacher, friend, and community and church leader in the towns of Houlton and Orono, the places she called home. Her fund provides scholarship support to graduating seniors at Houlton High School and/or Orono High School pursuing post-secondary studies in the field of education.

Erin Elizabeth Sperrey Memorial Scholarship
Erin Sperrey was a young woman who was just beginning to set goals for herself when her life was cruelly ended. She planned to return to college and study graphic design and architecture. Her legacy will live on in the scholarship that bears her name. The Erin Elizabeth Sperrey Memorial Scholarship Fund supports graduating seniors at Aroostook County high schools who are pursuing a degree in early childhood education (preschool) or liberal arts (e.g., education, art, music, or languages) rather than sciences. Preference is given to students who have successfully completed an alternative high school program. Academic excellence is not a prerequisite, but demonstrated personal growth and pursuit of a post-secondary education are.

St. Mary's Parish of Houlton Scholarship
The Saint Mary's Parish Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to a graduating senior at Houlton High School pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited college or university who is a member of St. Mary's Parish of Houlton. One award will be given each year, and the current recipient may apply for renewal consideration for up to four years of his/her college career, after which a new recipient will be selected.

The Laurel W. Thompson Scholarship Fund supports students from Washburn (including Crouseville), Wade, and Perham, Maine.

Margaret and Bert Tidd Memorial Scholarship
The Margaret and Bert Tidd Memorial Scholarship Fund was established through a bequest by Velma Bradstreet to support deserving students residing in Bridgewater, Maine, who intend to pursue post-secondary education at a two- or four-year college or university.

Henry G. White, Elizabeth R. White, and Janet A. White Scholarship
This scholarship was established through a bequest by Mr. White, a member of the Houlton High School Class of 1929, in loving memory of his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Janet. Elizabeth White taught home economics at Houlton High School for many years, and Janet White was a member of the Class of 1966. It provides support to deserving Houlton High School graduates for their post-secondary education and assists Houlton High School faculty in attending professional development programs.
