The Maine Community Foundation is accepting applications for the 2010 Noyce Award for Nonprofit Excellence. This year’s award, which comes with a $10,000 unrestricted grant, will honor a nonprofit that supports leadership development.
The theme of the 2010 Noyce Award is "Strengthening Community by Building Leadership."
The selection of the award winner will be based on an organization’s specific leadership program or initiative rather than on the full body of its work. Leadership is defined as “the ability to guide, influence, or direct others toward some common goal.” Special consideration will be given to programs for people that are typically under-represented or encounter barriers to accessing leadership positions, such as low-income individuals, members of racial and ethnic minorities, immigrants and refugees, and youth.
The application deadline is September 30, 2010. Noyce Award application forms and guidelines can be found here.
Established in 1990 to honor philanthropist Elizabeth Noyce (1930-1996), the award recognizes exceptional nonprofit leadership and service in Maine. Previous winners include Maine Migrant Health Program, Coastal Enterprises, Inc., Franklin County Community College Network, and the Sunrise County Economic Council.
