The Second Annual Encore Leadership Corps (ENCorps) Summit took place June 16 and 17 at the University of Maine in Orono. The program, hosted by the Maine Center on Aging, brought together ENCorps members from across the state who are working to strengthen the economic, environmental, and physical health of their communities.
The summit presented a variety of skill-building workshops, as well as networking and recreation activities. A key part of the summit, however, were the three volunteer showcase workshops, in which ENCorps volunteers participated in panel discussions or made presentations on their projects. Revitalizing Maine’s Downtowns:
ENCorps and the Maine Downtown Center
In this panel session, Roxanne Eflin of the Maine Development Foundation’s Maine Downtown Center provides an overview of the results of ENCorps work in downtowns across Maine. The session includes a panel discussion by members of the Encore Leadership Corps and the Downtown Center on the challenges, realities, and future of downtown revitalization work.
