EFN Quality of Place Initiative grantee Casco Bay Estuary Partnership (CBEP) is working with the organizations in the Presumpscot River Watershed Coalition to build a shared vision of land conservation values and priorities for the Presumpscot River watershed.
The Maine Community Foundation and the Maine Philanthropy Center convened a group of funders in 2005 to explore a shared interest in collaborative funding of environmental issues. As a result, a steering committee was established to guide the future of a new environmental partnership, the Environmental Funders Network (EFN).
The steering committee is committed to creating a funder network that will find value in learning from nonprofits and funders about how to address the most pressing issues facing Maine's environment. The network is nonpartisan and convenes funders to learn about Maine environmental issues and opportunities.
Mission
The Environmental Funders Network helps to sustain Maine’s natural environment and strengthen its connection to Maine’s people, communities, and quality of place.
EFN accomplishes its mission by:
- Identifying opportunities for individual or joint funding of initiatives
- Providing opportunities for education and sharing of information to gain a deeper understanding of trends, challenges, and solutions
- Encouraging networking among donors, funders, nonprofits, and others interested in protecting Maine’s natural environment
Ultimately, EFN members believe that an informed network of funders will have a greater impact addressing Maine’s environmental challenges.
