MaineCF’s Community Building Grant Program, its largest competitive grant program, has a new application deadline. Starting next year, the program, which includes the County & Regional Program, will go from two deadlines -- January 15 and May 15 -- to a single deadline: February 15.
“The recession is forcing nonprofits and foundations alike to adapt to new realities,” said Peter Taylor, MaineCF vice president of program development and grantmaking services.
Grant budgets for endowed funds at the community foundation have been reduced by 20%, which has had an impact on the percentage of proposals that are being funded in a given grant cycle. “Considering the grant funds available for the foreseeable future,” Taylor said, “moving to a single deadline is the right direction for nonprofits, our county committees, and the foundation.”
Organizations that were awarded grants in the May 2010 cycle are eligible to apply for funding in February of 2011.
