Make the Most of Your Giving

Donors have many reasons for giving. Whatever the amount, the motive is the same: to do good and to do it well, to act beyond random acts of kindness and achieve more than a tax shelter.

The Maine Community Foundation can provide the expertise that can help you identify and refine your motivations for giving. In doing so, your giving can be more satisfying and more effective, and you can take philanthropy to the next level -- during your lifetime and beyond.

 Partners in Prosperity

Partners in Prosperity reportThe new Partners in Prosperity report, produced by the Maine Association of Nonprofits with support from the Maine Community Foundation, highlights the impact of nonprofits and foundations in Maine. Among the statistics: Maine's nonprofit sector mobilizes approximately 360,000 volunteers, roughly one out of four Mainers or the equivalent of the populations of Cumberland and Aroostook counties. "MaineCF wouldn’t exist without our nonprofit partners," said Meredith Jones, community foundation president and CEO, "and the strength of this part of our economy is critical to our individual and collective impact as grantmakers." In terms of total foundation giving in Maine, $16,300,999 came from the community foundation and its donors, which represents more than 13% of all foundation giving in the state.
