Nonprofit Partners

The Maine Community Foundation relies on nonprofits to help fulfill its mission of building strong and vibrant communities in all corners of the state. Their dedication to quality of life and place, to education, health, the arts and environment, youth and literacy, is the inspiration for our work.

At the same time, the community foundation is committed to helping nonprofits achieve greater effectiveness and stability. Last year, in response to the recession, the foundation teamed up with Common Good Ventures, the Institute for Civic Leadership, Maine Association of Nonprofits, Maine Health Access Foundation, Maine Network Partners, and several United Ways to address pressing issues of nonprofit stability. The success of the first "viability clinics" has led to a broader effort in 2010.

The community foundation also seizes special opportunities that support the greater good of Maine citizens. In October 2009, we joined the Good Shepherd Food-Bank and the Maine Public Broadcasting Network in a campaign to feed families across the state.

The Maine Community Foundation champions cooperation and networks. There is strength in numbers.
