$399,400 GRANT FROM LUMINA FOUNDATION SUPPORTS MAINE COMPACT FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

The Maine Community Foundation has received a grant of $399,400 over three years from Lumina Foundation for Education. The grant will support the Employer’s Initiative, one of five strategic actions the Maine Compact for Higher Education is pursuing to increase access to higher education for Maine citizens.

The grant will be used to help 10,000 Maine workers, with support from their employers, to earn two-year or four-year college degrees over the next decade.

The MaineCF has engaged the Maine Development Foundation to organize and deliver the Employer’s Initiative under this grant. MaineCF and the Maine Development Foundation launched the Compact, an initiative to increase post-secondary educational levels of Maine people, in 2003.

Lumina Foundation for Education  is an Indianapolis-based, private foundation dedicated to expanding access and success in education beyond high school.
