Journalist and Artist

“Richard Norton Belfast: 1978-1988 and Invitational” will be on display at Waterfall Arts in Belfast from June 14 through August 23. A central figure in the art and journalism world of Waldo County in the 1980s, Norton (1947-1988) was a founder of Artfellows Gallery and the Waldo Independent.

More than 100 hand-printed black-and-white photojournalistic images and a selection of large kinetic color photographs are featured, along with contemporary work by several midcoast Maine artists who were his friends. The exhibition received support from a Maine Community Foundation donor-advised fund, the Theodore Arts Opportunity Fund.
