Caring Canines

“Having a service dog can be so freeing for people with disabilities,” says Kathy Hecht, program instructor at the University of Maine at Machias. With support from the Maine Charity Foundation Fund, disabled individuals in downeast Maine are learning how to train service dogs.

Camp Time

The newly named Bangor YMCA Wilderness Center at Camp Jordan on Branch Lake in Ellsworth will be expanding its offerings, thanks, in part, to a grant from the community foundation's Penobscot County Fund.
