The Bessie Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou recently completed a restoration of its historic steeple. With funding from the community foundation’s Maine Steeples Project, the church was able to re-shingle and re-roof the steeple, clean and paint the inside of the bell tower, add new flashing, repaint the clock faces, and install bird-proof screening. In this photo, a worker installs a copper top on one of the small roof peaks by the bell tower. Photos courtesy of Bessie Gray Memorial United Methodist Church
